i'm so excited to be apart of sfgirlbybay blog it forward. thank you victoria!!
its so difficult to pinpoint what inspires us...it could be anything from something we see, eat, smell, feel or hear. but if i was to pick just one thing..it would have to be my heritage. i have lived in the west my whole life which brings me even closer to my cultural background. i am proud to say i am third generation pakistani and i thank my family for not forgetting where we came from for if it wasn't for them i would not be able to create what i can today.
despite being a third world country, pakistan is rich in its color, textures and patterns...from textiles to architecture to poetry.
The mix of unusual color palettes with intricate embroidery and handprinting still prevails in all parts of Pakistan. The exuberant architectural buildings and mosques exhibit tile work in brilliant hues. Islamic art is a strong influence to the Pakistani design with the use of fractal geometry and intricate patterns. All of these attributes have had an intense influence on how i see color and pattern.
Make sure you visit nothing elegant for some more fabulous inspiration. you can see all the blogs who have participated at sfgirlbybay its brimming with visuals!!
